India’s top telecom player Bharati Airtel Limited has now become the world’s fifth largest mobile phone service provider. The company reached this position after the acquitision of the African assets of Kuwait’s Zain. As reported by some of the media experts $10.7 billion deal between Bharati Airtel and Zain Telecom’s Africa has allowed the largest overseas acquisition of assets in Africa by an Indian company.

This deal will help Bharati Airtel in increasing it’s subscriber base by extending its services in 15 more countries of Zain Africa’s mobile operator which include 42million customers. Thus it has been reported that the company’s (Bharati Airtel) total customer base will reach around 179 million.

At present, China Mobile is the world's largest mobile player with a subscriber base of 522 million, followed by Vodafone (348 million), Telefonica (206 million) and American Movil (201 million).

This deal will attract other industries to set up a base in Africa and it will create good relationship among the two continents.
