Sensex and Nifty up on Thursday; IT stocks at top

The stock market in India on Thursday ended in green, good time for the investors. Sensex closed with 180 points up at the end of the day, while Nifty gained 55.75 points to 5,296.85. Nifty had touched the highest of 5,320.50 in intra-day trading. The IT and bank stocks were got the good response and availed good profit for the traders in the day.

The market was not tumbled due to the global forces and the market sentiments was seen in the favor of the investors. Blue-chips Reliance Industries and Infosys Technologies were the top gainers in Sensex. The BSE Mid-Cap index and BSE Small-Cap were up 0.88 per cent 0.64 per cent respectively on Thursday.

Top gainers in Sensex were - Sterlite Inds, SBI, Hindalco Inds, Tata Steel, ICICI Bank, L&T, TCS, Bharti Airtel, Infosys, Maruti Suzuki, Reliance Comm, ONGC.

Losers - ACC, NTPC, Hindustan Unilever, Jindal Steel, Reliance Infra, and Hero Honda.
