In a significant development, the Union Cabinet on Monday cleared the much awaited Land Acquisition Bill. The bill will be tabled in the Parliament on Wednesday. However, the states will enjoy their own laws over the land acquisition.
It was reported Land Acquisition (Amendment) Bill and the Rehabilitation and Resettlement Bill will be useful in checking the forceful and illegal land acquisition in the country. The chief minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee had opposed the bill but now approved it.
