social networkingSocial networking has made its remarkable presence in our lives. If you've seen the Facebook's 'Chair ad' then you must have got the message about how important is social networking now in everyone's lives. Pew Research have made a research on the social networking popularity among 21 countries across the globe and the figures are amazingly in support of social networking. As per the survey report, in countries like Britain, the United States, Russia, the Czech Republic and Spain, about half of the adults use Facebook and other social networking sites. The statistics are also same in developing countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America. Recent reports showed that Facebook is getting ready to spread its wings in developing countries after conquering the developed world. Check out the survey inforgraphic on below.

Pew ResearchAs per the research report of Pew Research Center’s Global Attitudes Project from March 17-April 20, key findings reveal that even countries with low internet usage are active on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. The survey states, people around 19 of 21 countries are mostly active in Facebook including about half in Britain (52%), the U.S. (50%), Russia (50%), Spain (49%), and the Czech Republic (49%). As per the report, popularity of social networking varies with education level, with double-digit differences between those with a college degree and those without a college degree in around 18 countries (which excludes countries like Mexico, Brazil and Pakistan, where fewer than 100 respondents have a college degree). The widest gap is found in Egypt, where 81% of those with a college degree use social networking sites, compared with just 18% of those with less education.

  1. I would have liked to see Canada on this list. Most likely Canadians would have the highest social network penetration above Britain.
