Sudarshan Pattnaik was born on April 15th 1977, in (Puri) Odisha. He has learned sand art all by himself, by practice and by using his own creativity. Since the age of seven he started sand art, and now there are many students under him. He has won many national and International awards for his creativity and he has his name recorded, in the World records for sculpting the tallest Santa Claus and most Santa Claus image built on sand.

Sudarshan Pattnaik’s aim is to create awareness among people and make sand art, popular professional art form. For the same purpose he travels various places in the country and demonstrates this art form, by giving training and conducting workshops. “The Golden Sand Art Institute” was established by him, and it is first of its nature in our country. Sudarshan Pattnaik has won the People’s choice Prize at the 1st Moscow International Sand Sculpture Championship held in Russia.

Pattnaik won the first prize in International Sand Sculpture Championship In the month of June 2012. He has till now participated in more than 50 international sand sculpture championships across the world and has won many awards on behalf of the country. His sand sculpture on Black Taj Mahal earned him great fame all over the world. Sudarshan Pattnaik is also the Brand Ambassador of NALCO.

Following are few of the Many Awards that Sudarshan Has Won:
2009: In Moscow he won Special Prize at world Sand Sculpture Championship 2009, by Russia Government.

2009: In South Africa he won Korea Sand sculpture award 2009 at 4th Haeundae Sand Festival at Busan.

2009:In Berlin he won People Choice prize at 2nd USF World Championship 2008, Berlin Germany

2011: In Bhubaneswar he received the Odisha Living Legend Award from Orissadiary.com on Nov 11, 2011.
