Britannia - The Best FMCG Company

In the year 1892, a biscuit company was started in a house in Kolkata with an initial investment of Rs. 295.

It is the same company we all know today as Britannia. In the year 1975, the Britannia Biscuit Company took over the distribution of biscuits from Parry's.

In the next public issue of 1978, Indian shareholding crossed 60%. The following year, Britannia Biscuit Company was renamed as Britannia Industries Limited (BIL).

In 1983 four years later, Britannia crossed the Rs. 100 crores revenue mark.

Britannia is one of India's biggest brands of the country and leading fmcg companies in India. In 2002, Britannia's New Business Division, formed a joint venture with Fonterra, the world's second largest Dairy Company, and as a result Britannia New Zealand Foods Pvt. Ltd. was born.

Financial Performance:

Profit from operations increased from Rs. 1,248 MM to Rs. 1,794 MM. Company added Rs. 8,194 MM to the gross sales, which grew 23.9%. Earnings per Share was Rs.12.16


Britannia Industries on Monday posted a 22.6% increase in net profit for the fourth quarter ended March. The company's net profit for the quarter stood at R53.03 crore against R43.25 crore in the corresponding period last year.

BRITANNIA was honored with `creative hr practices award' by Employer Branding Institute, India.
In 2012, IMCRBNQA (Indian Merchant Chambers Ramakrishna Bajaj National Quality Award) gave away, the Manufacturing Performance Excellence Trophy a National Quality Award for the 2010 cycle, for Britannia Corporate Office, Britannia Industries Ltd. And Sunandram Foods Pvt Ltd.
