Active Listening is Good for Business

They say, “if you want to be a good communicator, you need to be a good listener first”. Listening does not necessarily mean keeping quiet. It means paying careful attention to what the other person has to say and sharing his point of view. When you allow other people to talk, and start listening to them, you have a chance of looking at a situation or a thing, from a new perspective.

Because, no two minds think alike, as people differ in their exposure, knowledge and experience. Big and successful people in various fields, have always made it a habit, to ask for suggestions and share their ideas with people, instead of taking individual decisions. Because, doing so, they can arrive at a better solution when a situation arises or this helps them even in the development or progress of an organization. Listening to other people makes them feel important and valuable.

When we involve other people in the decision making process each one shares others point of view and they have a better understanding of the situation. Doing so, when we arrive at a solution and implement, it becomes easily acceptable and people don’t feel as if something is thrust upon them. Any person and every person can talk about any thing. But only a man who has patience and genuine interest in the other person can become a good listener.

Only when one has a better understanding of the other person and his perspective. Can he become a good communicator and will be sought after by people. This will be possible only when you listen to people. The core point is to be a good communicator we need to be a good listener first, because only when we listen we learn and grow.
