‘Google Play’ Gift Cards Launched In UK – Available at Tesco and Morrison’s Branches

Google Play gift cards were launched in the UK on Wednesday. The gift cards can be bought at branches of Tesco and Morrison’s and are available in denominations of £10, £25 and £50. With the merging of the Android Market and Google Music, the service was renamed Google Play to coincide with the re-branding of Internet giant's digital distribution strategy.

The report said, the gift cards can be redeemed against digital content purchases on Google Play, including music, magazines, movies and apps. The report also added that "Gift cards make it even easier to buy apps, games, books, movies, music and magazines from Google Play, one-stop-shop for all your digital entertainment needs. Over the coming weeks, gift cards will go on sale in all UK branches of Tesco and Morrison’s."

 The vouchers cannot, however, be used to buy digital subscriptions, hardware or accessories. Google Play is a digital application distribution platform for Android developed and maintained by Google, and the service allows users to browse and download music, movies, television programs, magazines, books, and applications that were published through Google. Google Play apps are available either for free or at a cost, and they can also be downloaded directly to an Android or Google TV device through the Play Store or onto a personal computer via its website.
