Cadence inaugurates New Facility in Pune
Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CDNS) today announced the inauguration of a new facility in Pune, one of four Cadence Research and Development (R&D) facilities in India. The new 27,000-square-foot facility in Commerzone Tech Park will house employees engaged in technology development of various Cadence Tensilica® Xtensa® configurable processors and related products. Cadence acquired Tensilica in 2013, which has had an R&D facility in Pune since 2006.

In the last 28 years, Cadence has built world-class centers in India to develop the cutting-edge electronic design automation (EDA) software, hardware and IP technologies to help build the electronics products we use in our daily lives. The company currently employs approximately 1,580 people in India (regular full-time employees), engaged in R&D, global customer support, field operations, and support functions.

Cadence India was named among the 100 Best Workplaces in India in 2015 by the Great Place to Work® Institute, which is a testament to the vibrant culture that its employees have built in India. Based in Noida, Bangalore, Pune, and Hyderabad, employees in India work as "One Cadence - One Team" to innovate technologies, support the local community with philanthropic efforts, and celebrate customers' successes.

Speaking about the facility, Jaswinder Ahuja, corporate vice president and managing director, Cadence Design Systems (I) Pvt. Ltd., said, "Cadence was among the first technology companies to establish an R&D facility in India back in 1987. Since then, we have grown significantly in terms of number of sites and employees, and also the kind of R&D work that we are doing out of India, and built a strong culture that encourages teamwork, respect, learning, fun and giving back to the community."

Ahuja continued, "The team in Pune is working on cutting-edge development of digital signal processors (DSP) and other IP technology, and the Pune facility is among the best-in-class globally. The new facility provides a conducive environment for innovation and, hence, enable us to attract the best talent."

Cadence's Pune R&D facility is involved with creating world-class software for various Tensilica DSP cores; contributing significantly to RTL verification; developing an integrated design environment (IDE) for the next-generation configurable Xtensa processors; and providing in-depth technical support to worldwide customers.

India May 28: Barracuda Networks, Inc. (NYSE: CUDA), a leading provider of cloud-connected security and storage solutions, today announced that storage and channel veteran Chris Ross has joined the company as its senior sales vice president, global channels. Ross brings over 23 years of technology experience, 15 of those being in storage software, most recently as the vice president of worldwide sales at Arcserve.

At Barracuda, Ross will work with channel teams around the world to drive new strategies and accelerate implementation of Barracuda’s recently strengthened partner program. Announced on April 6, 2015, the program updates include a focus on establishing global consistency across all levels of the partner program, expanded deal registration, increased discounts for certain products, and a new MSP program for qualifying partners.

“It’s great to have Chris on board to help lead the global channel efforts at Barracuda,” said Michael Hughes, SVP, worldwide sales, Barracuda. “Chris provides valuable channel experience, which will help execute the goals aligned with our updated partner program – his joining Barracuda further positions us to rapidly grow and strengthen our channel community across the globe.”

Ross joins Barracuda from Arcserve, where he was vice president of worldwide sales. Prior to Arcserve he held a number of VP and GM roles at Bakbone Software, Symantec and PowerQuest Corporation where he worked to build channels, drive growth and develop sales and marketing teams.

THine Releases an Industry-first Motor Driver with LVDS Input/Output

THine Electronics, Inc. (JASDAQ:6769), the global leader in high-speed serial interface and provider of mixed-signal LSI today announced an industry-first* motor driver product, THM3561, with input/output of LVDS or Low Voltage Differential Signaling. The sample of THM3561 will be available in January, 2015.

The new feature with LVDS input/output achieves superior noise tolerance and high-speed data transmission for long distance. Since THine also has LED driver line-ups with LVDS input/output, this brand-new motor driver can be used jointly with THine’s LED drivers by cascade connection or multi-drop connection.

Moreover, several THM3561 can be connected only by two pair cables and every control can be achieved. This feature also contributes to reduce the number of cables, wiring spaces, and costs, accelerating time-to-markets. For example, a cascade connection of THM3561 products in every 3 meters allows complicated controls of 30 motors with long-distance data transmission for approximately 100 meters only by two pair cables. The application is large machine tools, factory automation and robotics, large motor control systems for long-distance, motor drivers of robotics or humanoid robots such as those with 30 finger-joints of both hands.

THM3561 also has serial interface to transmit sensor output signals of position detection to controllers. Spread of IoT brings numerous sensors and THM3561 can drive motors according to the output signal from sensors, reducing the parts counts drastically. In addition, THM3561 can drive 4-channel electromechanical solenoids with greater force and quick response.
