Mamata Banerjee won the by-election from Bhowanipur seat with a margin of 54,213 votes against CPI(M) candidate Nandini Mukherjee.
The election was core for Mamata and Left Party, and the people gave mandate to Mamata Banerjee once again after the recent Assembly polls. In the last assembly election, Left witnessed a historic defeat in West Bengal.
The people voted in favor of Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, which is the current ruling party there with 185 MLAs in the Assembly. The Left party has 63 MLAs in the Assembly after the by-election result. Mamata Banerjee said that there wouldn’t be any victory rally over her victory from Bhowanipur.
