Odisha to introduce Online Auction of Liquor Shop Licenses

The state government of Odisha is planning to start online auction of annual liquor shop licenses, which believed to bring more transparency in the tendering process.

The government will run a pilot project in one district before implementing the new system of auctioning foreign and country licenses for wine shops in the state.

The government has been optimistic about the new project aiming that would also fetch good revenue revenue in the beverage business with having more transparency.

In excise sector, the state government has collected Rs 1,380 crore revenue in 2011-12.
