Bombay Jayashri, Indian singer nominated for 85th Academy Awards

The Indian Carnatic music vocalist Bombay Jayashri is nominated to the 85th Academy Awards in the category of Music Original Score. She sang the Pi’s Lullaby for the movie ‘Life of Pi’ under the direction of music director Mychael Danna for which she got the nomination.

Bombay Jayashri is one of the leading singers in Tamil Cinema. She is an international fame with performances from New Delhi to New York. She has performed at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in Delhi, World Music Institute - New York; University of Arizona; University of Texas; MIT; University of Louisiana; Cornell University and Amherst College.

She has also performed at The Royal Opera House - Durban, Monash University - Melbourne and Esplanade Theater - Singapore. She has received many state and national level honors in India and also won FilmFare awards for her singing in Tamil cinema Minnale in 2002.

She has also sung some Bollywood songs for movies like Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein, Force and Phir Milenge.
