New Delhi, October 21, 2014: Airtel digital TV, the Direct-To-Home (DTH) service from Bharti Airtel, today announced its partnership with Samsung to launch India’s very first Integrated Digital TV (iDTV).


As part of this innovation - Samsung’s range of SmartDirect TVs will come designed with an in-built Airtel digital TV Smart Card which will enable DTH signal reception without the need for customers to install an external set-top-box (STB).

The Integrated Digital TV (iDTV) capability will deliver a smart TV viewing experience for customers through minimal signal loss and maximum audio & video clarity while also ensuring maximum power savings.

Brand Airtel wins top accolades at Effie Awards 2012

Brand Airtel bagged a total of three Golds and one Silver at Effies this year.

Conceptualised by Taproot India, Bharti Airtel’s extremely successful ‘Har Friend Zaroori Hai, Yaar’ campaign stood out amongst all nominations and bagged three Gold awards. The Effie 2012 awards were presented at a glittering ceremony at the Turf Club in Mumbai on 4th December. Airtel’s awards were received. Anuradha Sehgal (VP, Brand Marketing, Bharti Airtel), who played a key role in the conceptualization and creation of both the campaigns, accepted the awards to Airtel alongwith the Taproot and JWT teams.

The Effie Awards are organised by The Advertising Club (erstwhile Ad Club Bombay). This year the Effies received 357 entries of which 128 were shortlisted for awards. 50 agencies participated. Judging the awards were 124 experts from the Indian marketing and advertising fraternity of whom 68 were from the client side of the table. Effies uses four criteria to judge the effectiveness of a campaign. They are: ‘What is the strategic objective’, ‘What is the big idea’, ‘How the idea has been brought to life’ and ‘What are the results’. Awards follow 2 rounds of judging.

Bharti Airtel launches Cloud Enablement Platform powered by HP

New Delhi, India, July 3, 2012 – Bharti Airtel, a leading global telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa, today announced the launch of its Cloud Enablement Platform (CLEP) based on the HP Aggregation Platform for Softwareas-a- Service (AP4SaaS). Bharti Airtel will offer hosted SaaS and IaaS (Infrastructure-as-a-Service) applications to the small and large enterprises on a pay-as-you-go model.

Initially, Airtel will offer solutions like ERP, accounting packages, storage and compute on the Airtel CLEP Platform. Going forward the company will introduce diverse SaaS applications on the same platform especially for SMB customers, thereby helping them to meet the ever evolving business demands.

Airtel Cloud Services will enable businesses of all sizes to optimize their IT costs while providing security, scalability and flexibility.

HP Enterprise Services built a CLEP using the HP AP4SaaS, integrated into Bharti Airtel's existing network system. A key component of the HP Cloud Services Enablement portfolio, the AP4SaaS is a common platform from which Airtel can not only deliver IaaS but also Communications as a Service and SaaS, either hosted on operator premises or integrated with third-party SaaS providers. It provides a flexible set of web service interfaces for enhancing the Cloud Service Provider’s (CSP) customer portal and facilitates distribution, subscription, and consumption via a marketplace portal.

“Communications service providers need flexibility, innovation and speed to market to attract new customers and drive new revenue streams,” said Neelam Dhawan, managing director, HP India. “HP Aggregation Platform for SaaS eases the integration of SaaS and IaaS into the CSP environment, expediting the delivery to Airtel’s small and medium business customers.” HP will offer implementation and management of the end-to-end Cloud Enablement Platform.

Bharti and Qualcomm announce partnership for 4G

New Delhi/San Diego, May 24, 2012: Bharti Airtel Limited (“Bharti”), a leading global telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa, and Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM; “Qualcomm”), the world leader in 3G and next-generation mobile technologies, today announced that they have signed an agreement for Bharti to acquire an interest in Qualcomm Asia Pacific’s (Qualcomm AP) Indian BWA entities. Under the agreement, Bharti has made an initial investment of approximately USD 165 million to acquire 49 percent interest in Qualcomm AP’s India entities that hold BWA licenses in Delhi, Mumbai, Haryana and Kerala - partly by way of acquisition of 26 percent equity interest equally held by Global Holding Corporation Private Limited and Tulip Telecom Limited, and the balance by way of subscription of fresh equity in those entities.

The agreement contemplates that once commercial operations are launched, subject to certain terms and conditions, Bharti would assume complete ownership and financial responsibility for the BWA entities by the end of 2014. Bharti already has BWA licenses in four circles - Kolkata, Karnataka, Punjab and Maharashtra - and 3G licenses in thirteen circles in India. With this agreement, Bharti has secured a nation-wide broadband leadership through a combination of 4G and 3G, with its own networks in 18 circles.

Bharti has already taken the lead in LTE TDD space by launching 4G services in Kolkata and Karnataka Circles. Commenting on the partnership Mr. Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman and Managing Director, Bharti Airtel said, “We are delighted to partner with Qualcomm, who shares our commitment to the Government’s agenda of broadband for all.

This partnership will combine the strength of Bharti’s national telecom footprint and Qualcomm’s technological leadership in the LTE TDD space. Qualcomm expects to provide technical assistance to Bharti in connection with network architecture and optimization, infrastructure and device testing, as well as continuing to develop and support the underlying technology and the LTE TDD ecosystem.

Bharti Airtel and Axis Bank announce strategic alliance for financial inclusion
