Business Principles: Attitude towards Customers

In business principles, attitude is definitely one thing that definitely matters if you are a marketing person and are dealing with customers.

While doing business, you may be selling just a pencil or you may be dealing with equipment that costs crores, but the core point is that you are dealing with customers.

Many people have this attitude that I am selling a product that is not much worth in terms of money and the person I am going to meet is just another guy and they do not have a professional approach in business.

It is not always necessary that your client or customer will always be a person who will be sitting in a closed cabin to do business. He or she may be the person next to you and just like you ordinary.

But never theless it is your responsibility to have a professional approach towards him or her. For example, in business you are selling a tractor and your customer is a farmer, it does not mean that you go him with wrinkled shirt and talk to him casually and without respect.

He may be a farmer but you are earning your pay cheque and commission because of him, if he is not there you is not there.

So, he should be treated with respect and your approach should be professional. The way you convince him or try to talk to him may be different from others, but your attitude towards him should not change. Whatever he is, however he is he is your customer and you should treat him like that.

A successful marketing or sales person knows that his success always depends upon the way he approaches his customer and his convincing abilities.

But in any case his approach should always be professional and he should wish for the good of the customer and how his product will benefit him and add value to his life. If this is kept in mind you will see only success in business.

Money Attitude: Right or Wrong?

If there is one thing of concern to everyone in today’s time it is money, money and more money. Right from an ordinary wage earner/ an employee dependent on the pay cheque, or entrepreneur or corrupt politicians and system. Every one’s only main problem is life is how to secure more and more money and how to lead life comfortably.

Money in itself is not bad. It is our attitude towards money that is making us corrupt and forgets morals. If we go back to the history of money, it was invented to make the life a human easy. But on the contrary now it has made our life difficult to live. The main reason behind this is the ever increasing prices and corrupt system that is responsible for concentration of money only with a particular organization or a person.

If any country needs to prosper there should be a flow of money, like water when flows, it quenches the thirst, gives rise to crops, increases life. But when it gets stagnated it becomes polluted and useless. So, individuals who wish to prosper and want to see the nation and world prosper should, earn only that much that is required for a descent living of their family. If one’s income levels are very high than required, it should be distributed in the needy.

In India, in our scriptures it is written as to how to spend the money. It is said earning money is not wrong especially if he is a house holder; it is his responsibility to earn money and to look after the needs of the family members. In the income a part of the money should be kept aside for future needs such as, education, marriage, health concerns, retirement etc., some portion for any unforeseen emergencies, and some portion for the society, for charitable cause. And some money for spiritual concerns.

This is how we need to budget the wages or income that we earn honestly and morally. Money earned in this way and spent in the above mentioned way, always leads to the betterment of the individual and the society at large. But only if we follow this, the other main attitude that we need to have if we want to prosper financially is to always think, hear and do good with money. When you spend money, feel happy that by God’s grace you are able to pay bills and buy things. When you receive money in any form feel happy that by his grace you have earned or received it.

When receiving money, or when receiving wage or income or a gift, let it be a rupee even, don’t feel that it is only small money what will I do with this. Feel happy and be grateful to God that he has blessed you with that. If you continue to exhibit this attitude towards money at all the times and in all circumstances, you will see that circumstances will change for betterment and you will prosper in finances.

Criticism is Good

Criticism is a way of correcting people; there are many types of criticism. People who have a intention to do good to others or want to correct them, are the ones who do criticism. Criticism is a corrective step, in our day to day life we may hear criticism from any one, it may be a member from our family, outsider, our well wisher, mentor, or for that matter any one.

There are kinds of Criticism, people who do positive Criticism and people who do negative Criticism. Positive Criticism, helps a person to know his fault, and to correct himself, where as negative Criticism, leads to depression and demotivates a person. Your intention may be right that you want to correct a person and want to put him in a right track. But if you do it in a straight and blunt way, the other person will be hurt, and your purpose will not be survived.

Criticism is a part of life, and as long as we learn to take it positively, for our own benefit, we will not be hurt. It may be from any one in our phases of life we come across many persons and situations, where we hear Criticism, our parents do it with a intention to correct us and to keep us on right track, and because of their love towards us. Our teachers do it, with an intention to correct us. Our bosses do it, so that we become better at work and give our best.

So, no matter who does it, and in what situation. The purpose is always for the good of the criticized, if we remember this we will always progress in life. The fact that there are people who do Criticism just to hurt the other the other one, cannot also be denied, but those kind of people are very few; you need not pay attention to those Criticism. So, Criticism does good to people, if given in a positive way.

Well, positive attitude is definitely one big asset that any business person should have, because business is no definitely a matter of minutes or seconds or even days, it requires enormous patience and tons of positive attitudes, to survive and win in this business world. But knowledge has its own part to play in the success of the business. While positive attitude helps you keep the flame alive and keep going, knowledge helps in doing things, and getting results.

In business, knowledge is everything, if you want to make know, about market you need to have knowledge, you want to assess your employees performance, you need to have knowledge, you want to think of future developments and to invent you need to have knowledge, knowledge to thing about the future trends and needs. But, given all the knowledge in the world, and you have a negative attitude, you will be doomed to failure, in no time, because a negative mind can hear no good, can see no good and do no good. ‘Success’ Handle with Care

It takes huge guts, unfailing patience, and loads of will power, to make your way up, to the success. But, a small slip from there, and then you are back again on the ground, starting all over again. Success is also like this, it is very hard to achieve the heights, but it is even more difficult to retain your position up there. The good news is that, you will not ever slip down until you remember your basics, and those principles, which were the foundation for your success.

Usually success brings along with it, inefficiency, negligent attitude, arrogance and a sort of thinking, where in, we take things for granted. When we are successful in business or in the profession we are into, we forget the very basics that brought us to this stage. We stop working hard, focus less on new ideas and we tend to take no more risks. There and that kind of attitude becomes the foundation for our downfall.

Attitude defines Your Altitude

In life everything we do, reflects our attitude towards life. Two people face the same kind of situation, but the way they react to it defines their attitude. Take for example there are two professors in the same campus teaching the same subject to the students, but one makes subject more interesting to learn, while the other makes it boring. They may be equally qualified and experienced but the difference is their attitude towards work. When one feels enthusiastic about work it reflects in their work, it inspires others also to be enthusiastic and active.

This applies all the time and in everything we do. The way we talk, walk, smile, the way we carry ourselves, present ourselves, the way we dress everything reflects our attitude towards ourselves and towards others. The real test of attitude is when one is posed with a difficult situation or a challenge the way he handles it and overcomes it. Two persons may be facing same health problem, one thinks his life is finished he can do nothing else about it, and starts worrying and talking about it, instead of taking necessary steps for betterment. On the contrary another person facing the same problem thinks of it as a challenge, takes necessary action to rectify the problem to his level best, and redirects his thinking towards productive and useful things rather than worrying about it.

 The other person sets an example for others to follow and inspires them to take a better view of life, while the latter remains as one among many people, who can neither better their own life or the life of others. This kind of positive attitude is not a difficult task to accomplish, because it can be easily developed provided one has the willingness to do so.

First and foremost thing to develop this kind of attitude is, to keep yourself in the company of people, who have high, and positive thinking levels than you, people who inspire and motivate others in a positive way. As far as possible, make sure that your words and actions are always positive and encouraging. Keep yourself away from people who are failures, think and talk negative, and demotivate others.

Reading and listening to positive and self-development literature is also one of the best ways to develop positive mental attitude. Select a person whom you admire, respect, and look up to as your role model, then to be like him compare the qualities and attitudes of his, towards life, with yours, this is also a tool to develop right kind of attitude. Attitude is everything in life and a person with positive mental attitude, is a person who has the capability to shape his life the way he wants. Because “it is your attitude that defines your altitude”.
