For meritorious students studying in Class VIII (going to IX) & Class X (going to XI); whose total parental income is below Rs. 10,000/- per month

Delhi, 8 Jan, 2015: FIITJEE, the country’s premier institute for IIT-JEE training, will conduct a nation-wide examination on February 8 to select 40 underprivileged but highly meritorious students who will be groomed and tutored for free by the institution for entrance to India’s most reputed engineering colleges.

The “FORTUNATE 40” examination will be held across designated test centres in India for all students studying in class VIII and X, who aspire to make it to IIT-JEE in the year 2019 & 2017 respectively, but do not have the financial resources to afford an effective coaching institution.

The selected 40, who show potential for doing well in the field, will be taken under the wing of FIITJEE, an organization which sends a large number of students to IITs and other prestigious engineering colleges of India every year.

While students from a cross section of society aspire to make it to the IITs, it is not an easy exercise. Having the intellectual capability and potential is not enough as cracking JEE also requires a rigorous training and guidance. Students from economically less fortunate backgrounds often fail to avail the benefits of such coaching programmes.

Keeping in mind the aspirations of such students, FIITJEE being a social responsibility-conscious organization, designed the FORTUNATE 40 programme in 2008. It’s a program exclusively created to provide world-class training to serious students from financially weaker backgrounds and enthuse them to achieve their goal of success & top ranks in IIT-JEE and other competitive exams.

This program will select and financially support those capable students presently studying in class VIII (going to IX) & class X (going to XI) whose total parental income is below Rs.10, 000/- per month. FIITJEE will support these meritorious students in their preparation for achieving their dream goals by awarding 100% scholarships for FIITJEE programs & 100% waivers on hostel charges.

“Talent and potential is not exclusive to the elite sections of the society. Every child with potential should be given a level playing field in competition. IITs are India’s foremost intellectual institutions and the best talents from this cross section of society also deserve their due place in them. Our FORTUNATE 40 programme is designed to propel into the big league 40 such students who might get lost in absence of essential guidance and training. Over the past few years, many of these students nurtured by us have created new benchmarks of success and have made us immensely proud,” says Mr. R L Trikha, Director, FIITJEE.

The selection test will be conducted at the centres in Delhi (South Delhi, Punjabi Bagh, Dwarka &; East Delhi), Delhi NCR (Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon & Noida), Amritsar, Anantapur, Bangalore, Bhilai, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Bokaro, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dhanbad, Durgapur, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kalpakkamm, Kanpur, Karimnagar, Khammam, Kolkata, Kurnool, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Netarhat, Patna, Pune, Ramgarh, Ranchi, Shaktinagar NTPC, Trichy, Vadodara, Varanasi & Visakhapatnam.

The last date to apply for test is 1st February 2015 (Sunday) and there will be no registration fee for this selection test. To be eligible for the FORTUNATE 40 batch, students have to clear the individual subject cut-offs & also the grand total cut-off.

Bikers for Good
New Delhi, August 24, 2014: How many times have you seen a biker hugging a policeman? How many times have you seen a biker thanking him for his diligence, instead of racing away? Today, the 24th of August, the Biker Fraternity did the impossible.

In a one-of-its-kind ride initiated by Bikers for Good, a Motorcycle Community that rides solely for social causes, more than 15 Biking clubs from Delhi came together to send out a message of appreciation and respect for the Delhi Police.

Commenting on the idea behind the ride, Mohit Ahuja, Founder of Bikers for Good said, “The public is there to protest and criticize the police when they fail to do something. We planned this ride to thank them for taking care of the city, through thick and thin.”

The ride saw close to 500 bikers riding to Jantar Mantar riding bikes ranging from 100cc to 1000cc and above. Together the bikers gave a message of responsibility towards safer roads. The admin of Bikers for Good, Jeet Kandhari quoted, “Biking today is growing. Motorcycle Clubs have members who are students, doctors, CEOs and even higher. Doing something like this will only help us better terms between bikers and the police.”

The bikers gathered to thank Delhi Police and Delhi Traffic Police for their efforts. A huge banner with the club logos was put up, where bikers wrote their messages for the Delhi Police. This banner was later presented to Mr. Ajay Kumar Singh, S.H.O., Parliament Street, Delhi. Moreover, Bikers were seen hugging Delhi Police personnel and carrying placards that read FREE HUGS FOR DELHI POLICE.

With this ride, Bikers for Good marked another milestone in its journey of doing GOOD. The only community in India to ride solely for Social Causes, Bikers for Good promotes safety amongst bikers and stands up for various social causes. In less than 3 years of its existence, Bikers for Good has grown to be a 5000 member community across India, helping out more than 3 Lakh people. It is said that with great power comes great responsibility and Bikers for Good is living up to the statement.
