Independence Day Celebrations at ITM University, Gurgaon

ITM University, Gurgaon, celebrated the 69th Independence Day with a lot of enthusiasm and gaiety. The environment at the University was full of patriotic fervor. The faculty members, staff, students and children gathered at the occasion to celebrate the Independence Day. Earlier the faculty and staff of the University had set the mood by assembling in vibrant theme dressing. They wore attires in different shades of tricolour. 14 August was also celebrated in the University as Hindi Day.

The Independence Day celebration started with the flag hoisting ceremony by the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Brig SK Sharma (Retd). After unfurling the National Flag, Brig Sharma took the salute as the Security Staff of the University marched past the dais. The atmosphere came alive when the national song filled the air with patriotism. After the march past, Brig Sharma addressed the crowd and greeted all faculty members, staff and students on the occasion. He expressed that it is the time for the nation and students in particular to take India to the select list of developed countries.

The University has been a frontrunner in imparting quality education and pledged to continue their tradition of producing not only good professionals, but good human beings for the welfare of the society. The crowd took oath to be good human beings and contribute in country’s development in any possible ways.

Gurgaon’s ITM University bags Best Private University of Haryana Award

Gurgaon’s ITM University was awarded ‘Best Private University of Haryana’ by Dialogue India Academia at a recent award function in Delhi. The Chief Guest of the occasion was Sh. Sanjay Singh, Member of Parliament from Uttar Pradesh. Prof (Dr) Prem Vrat, Pro Chancellor and Brig. SK Sharma (Retd.), Pro Vice-Chancellor of ITM University received the award from Sh. Singh.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Vrat identified the key factors for continued academic excellence at ITM University, Gurgaon. “The passion to excel with excellent life quality infrastructure, efficient and IT enabled teaching-learning processes is key to ITM University’s success year after year,” he said. He was also a panelist and speaker at the valedictory session of the event.

ITM University, Gurgaon was given the first rank among Private Universities of Haryana out of 17 Private Universities of the State. The Annual Survey 2015 was conducted by Dialogue India, a Delhi based publication.

ITM University has also been titled as No. 1 Emerging University in India, in a survey by Higher Education Review. It did well in the Edu-Rand survey, June 2015, based on Rand Corp of USA process, with an All India ranking of 71 out of 795 Engineering Colleges in India. Many of these awards have ranked the University consistently in the top slots in the last several years due to its commitment in imparting quality education in Engineering, Management and Law at the UG, PG and PhD level. The University also provides fee concessions and scholarships to over 200 students annually

Haryana CM Felicitates ITM University Faculty

Dr. D.R Agarwal, Professor Emeritus at School of Management, ITM University, Gurgaon was felicitated by Honourable Chief Minister of Haryana, Shri Manohar Lal Khattar at a recent public function held at Government (PG) College, Gurgaon, for his outstanding contribution to higher education in the field of literature. Shri. Rao Narbir Singh, Hon’ble Minister PWD & Public Health also graced the occasion.

Dr. Agarwal, who has also worked as Project Economist with Dronacharya Government College, Gurgaon and with Kurukshetra University, was specially appreciated for rendering his services as a dedicated teacher for 54 years without any break. He has been associated with institutes like NIEPA, IGNOU, and NCERT and has earlier been honoured by the Governor of Haryana and many other organisations for his work in the field of education.

ITM University, Gurgaon organizes National Workshop on MEMS Design, Technology & Application

To give its students important insights into developing application-specific devices and systems for health care, defence and space sectors of the country, ITM University, Gurgaon in collaboration with IIT Delhi conducted a three-day National Workshop on ‘MEMS Design, Technology & Application’.

A collaborative research and development project, the workshop, sponsored by Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Govt. of India, was coordinated by Dr. Bharti Arora, Deputy Dean RDIL at ITM University, Gurgaon and Dr. Madhusudhan Singh, Associate Professor, IIT Delhi.

Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems, commonly known as MEMS, is a frontier technology being used development of very small devices. MEMS technology is used in general domains like Automotive, Consumer, Industrial, Military, and Biotechnology.

The workshop was inaugurated by keynote speaker and chief guest Dr. R Muralidharan, Director, Solid State Physical Laboratory, Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The plenary session of the workshop was chaired by Dr Surinder Singh, Director, Semi-Conductor Laboratory, Chandigarh, India’s cutting-edge ISRO research lab.

“At ITM University, we strive to provide students the best of exposure. Such workshops give students the opportunity to interact with others and gain more exposure through exchange of ideas and experiences. Frontier technology like MEMS helps students get acquainted with hi-end technologies. Our initiatives are useful for the students in polishing both their academic as well as professional skills,” said Prof B. S Panwar, Vice-chancellor, ITM University, Gurgaon.

The workshop was attended by a large number of students and faculty of ITM University, Gurgaon in addition to participation from students and faculty members from various other colleges from the Delhi NCR region. Topics like multifunctional sensors and conventional MEMS sensors along with its associated technology and applications were discussed during the workshop.

Lectures were delivered by eminent Speakers of IIT Delhi and other colleges. The workshop opened avenues of further interaction by using the expertise of each organization on design and simulation and technology.​

ITM University hosts ‘Lean for Leadership’ Workshop

With the aim to provide its students exposure to best global practices in industry, ITM University, Gurgaon hosted ‘Lean for Leadership’ workshop, an initiative by American Society for Quality (ASQ).

ITM University shapes its students for leadership roles with such initiatives and strives for making them highly competent skilled professionals who are ready to meet national needs and international standards.

The session concluded with the thoughts that the country’s policy of ‘Make in India’ will be successful if global quality standards are maintained, and projects are cost effective with minimal wastage to ensure ‘Zero Defect, Zero Effect’.

ITM University is the first university in India to be selected by ASQ and form a Students’ Chapter to usher in world-class process in every part of academic and professional life.

Many eminent people from the industry, including Mr Sachin Garg, Vice President, Max Life and Ms Savita Bradoo, Director Quality, Convergys, participated in the workshop and shared their experiences gained over the years.

Mr Ciby James, Director, ASQ (India), conducted the workshop, which received a good response from the students. Prof. Ravindra Ojha, Director School of Engineering and Technology, ITM University, Gurgaon, led the students of the varsity.

ITM University, Gurgaon’s app on Women Safety

Amid growing number of crimes against women, a Women Safety application has been developed by students and faculty of ITM University, Gurgaon which has been recently selected for the National Campaign ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ (Save girl child-Educate girl child).

The University’s app was selected recently during the two-day event held in Panipat by the Haryana Government to create awareness about the campaign. The Android-based application ‘Be Safe Girls’ has been developed by Ms Sujata, Asst Professor, Ms Sakshi, final year student of dept of CSE&IT, ITM University, Gurgaon and development team of the University. The USP of the app, as per the development team, is that it consumes less than 1 MB memory space.

“Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao is a great initiative of the government and it is a moment of pride for us that an application developed by our students has been selected for such an important national campaign. The app will infuse a sense of security among women, making them fearless and more confident. We hope that the efforts of our students will help the campaign become successful,” said Prof B S Panwar, Vice Chancellor, ITM University, Gurgaon.

The app has a button that will appear on the mobile screens upon downloading. In an emergency situation, the girl would be able to inform her family, friends and security officials of the university or authorities concerned through a text message just with the pressing of the button. Upon activation, the app would send the precise location of the device to the people concerned.

Application uses location tracker with the help of any of the available technologies like GPS, 3G, 2G or Wi-Fi. The app would be available to the users once it is operationalized.

Palash Chhabra, a student of ITM University, Gurgaon, brought laurels to the varsity after having been selected to represent his University at the highly acclaimed Google Student Ambassador Summit, which was held recently.

Prior to the Summit, Palash, B.Tech-Information Technology, was declared the Google Student Ambassador from among the many students who were vying for the title.

The three-day Summit was held at Infosys Campus, Pune in which luminaries from various IT organizations and leading global companies participated.

Palash would now enable students of ITM University to understand the products and programmes of Google which could be useful to them and for Google to know the needs of the University and its students.

He would help conduct Google-enabled workshops at ITM University and bring latest technology on mobiles of the students.

“Palash’s selection as Google Student Ambassador will encourage other students to participate in more such initiatives. Palash has proved his mettle and worked hard to reach here.

He will inspire others to do things with conviction. Over 798 Students receive degrees at annual convocation of ITM University, Gurgaon

Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Dr Karan Singh graces the occasion

Gurgaon, Dec , 2014: An atmosphere of pride enveloped ITM University, Gurgaon when students gathered today at their alma mater for the annual convocation ceremony with a deep sense of fulfillment and achievement on having successfully completed their crucial educational journey.

Ecstatic students cheered to be back in the familiar settings, meeting their friends and professors and recalling the days they spent in the varsity. Among the students who were awarded degrees today were 577 B Tech pass outs, 133 M Tech, 43 MBA, 2 LLM and 43 from BBA stream.

The function was presided over by Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Dr Karan Singh, who as the chief guest wished the students good luck and asked them to take on the challenges with vigour.


Speaking at the occasion, Prof BS Panwar, Vice Chancellor of the ITM University lauded the achievement of the students. “It is a proud moment for the University to see our students graduating and preparing themselves to make a mark in the professional world. What they have been taught here, now they can step outside and apply that knowledge practically. We wish our students create a niche for themselves and take the institute’s name to greater heights,” said the proud Vice Chancellor.

The ceremony was a spectacular show with students from all the three schools of the University participating in the degree-distribution ceremony. Of the total students, 58 passed with distinction. The toppers in each discipline were awarded medals and Certificates of Excellence.

A total of 10 students received Gold medals, 8 Silver and 8 Bronze. In the MTech department, 5 medals each were distributed in Gold, Silver and Bronze category. In the BTech department, 5 medals were given – 3 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze. Three medals each were given to students from MBA and BBA departments. Also, nine students received ITMU Scholar Awards.


After the degree distribution ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor unveiled the Annual Report of the University, highlighting the achievements and progress made by the University during the year.

ITM University organizes International Seminar on Surrogacy and Human Rights

Gurgaon December​ ​5​, 2014: ITM University’s Law School organized an International Seminar on ‘Surrogacy and Human Rights’ against the backdrop of India becoming a popular destination for medical tourism and advancements in technology increasing the demand for gestational surrogacy here.

At the global level, surrogacy is a booming business despite the fact that many countries prohibit surrogacy arrangements. The market for international surrogacy is estimated to be USD six billion annually worldwide. India alone is estimated to hold a business of $445 million, and still the legal regulations governing the issue are hazy.


The seminar was inaugurated by Mr Hans Friedrich Schodder, Deputy Chief of Mission, United Nations High Commissioner on Refugees (UNHCR). The themes for discussion during the seminar focused on national and international perspective of surrogacy, statelessness and health standards in surrogacy as well as social impact of fertility tourism.

“Indian fertility services are known for quality and low cost. When we look into the problem of surrogacy, it gives insight into certain issues like citizenship issues, transit issues, medical issues, circumvention and conflict of laws and likewise. Adoption remains in greyscale when talking about surrogacy,” said Mr Schodder.

Prof. Prem Vrat, Pro-Chancellor, ITM University, Gurgaon raised the social concerns attached with the surrogate arrangement and emphasized on the social acceptance of the surrogate child and the health issues of the surrogate mother.

There were experts from NGOs, doctors, eminent lawyers and distinguished academicians who presented their views on Commercial Surrogacy, including Dr Sonia Malik, IVF, Max, Gurgaon; Dr Rita Bakshi, Green Park Infertility Clinic, New Delhi and Dr Manasi Mishra, Centre for Social Research, New Delhi.

Haryana Governor distributes scholarships to ITM University students

Haryana Governor Sri. Kaptan Singh Solanki distributes scholarships to meritorious and under-privileged students of ITM University, Gurgaon

•   Over 200 students were given scholarships amounting to Rs. 1.5 Crores

Gurgaon: In an atmosphere of solemnity and grandeur, His Excellency Governor of Harayana Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki distributed scholarships to over 200 students of ITM University, Gurgaon to help financially and socially disadvantaged and meritorious students.

This scholarship has been instituted by the University to bring quality education within the reach of every student irrespective of their financial or social status.

Speaking at the occasion, the Governor, the Chief Guest at the Scholarship distribution ceremony, lauded the milestones achieved by ITM University in becoming one of the premier universities in India. He further went on to appreciate the service ITM University renders by awarding scholarships to the merited students and those from the weaker section of the society. He drew attention of all spectators on the tremendous progress made by the State of Haryana in the field of higher education.

“The University should further endeavour to achieve global bench marks in higher education and use emerging technology and pursue research to benefit the people, industry and the country at large,” he added while urging students to become good responsible citizens of this country besides being professionals.

The Pro-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Prem Vrat said, “ITM University holds the pride of one of the first private technical universities in Haryana and offers various undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes under the School of Engineering and Technology, School Management and School of Law. The University has achieved many distinctions over the years since it inception, through hard work, vision and unflinching commitment to excellence.”

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. BS Panwar lauded the efforts of the student and asked other students to follow their suit. The fee concessions and scholarships amounted to over Rs 1.5 crore.

Earlier, the ITM University staff and students accorded a warm welcome to the honorable Governor. The campus was spruced up for the occasion with colours and flowers and patriotic fervor was created by the University Choir while singing National Anthem and Vande Matram.

A Farewell to Remember at ITM University

It was an emotional moment at ITM University as students and faculty members bid farewell to the outgoing batch of Engineering and Management recently.

There were mixed emotions among the final year students as they found themselves amidst the future calling and the pain to leave their alma mater. They, however, made the best of the last few hours at the University and were seen in high spirits, clicking pictures of every nook and cranny of the campus, faculty and juniors.

The juniors did everything possible to make it a memorable experience for their seniors. A cultural show was organized by the juniors and food stalls were erected to make their juniors feel special. They later thanked the seniors for their guidance over the years and wished them all the success for future.

“It is the time when we have to say goodbye to students who have been with us for four years. As my heart aches to bid them adieu, there is a hope too that the students will create a niche for themselves and bring a good name to the University. I extend my best wishes to the outgoing students for their future endeavour, hoping they will excel in whatever domain they have chosen,” said Prof Prem Vrat, Vice Chancellor, ITM University.

The juniors also gave their seniors titles as they were presented with a memento in the form a memorabilia.
