JD Institute celebrates World Elder’s Day
New Delhi,3rd October, 2015: JD Institute of Fashion Technology who has been a distinctively eminent name in the design fraternity of India for two and a half decades organized a cultural programme on World Elder’s Day. The programme was held at Safdarganj Club,New Delhi on 2nd October,2015 to facilitate the senior citizens of our country.

The main aim of the programme was to make the world see the energy and enthusiasm a senior citizen has even at the age of 60.

Students of JD Institute of Fashion Technology prepared a play named ”Unity in Diversity”. The play depicted the vision of an artist in a dream sequence who sees India as a place with unity in diversity.

The most different thing about this play was performed by the senior citizens displaying the enthusiasm and the energy they have despite often being ignored by the society in the daily course of their lives.

Ms.Rupal Dalal,Director of JD Institute of Fashion Technology says,” The main aim behind this initiative was to make people realize the responsibilities they have towards the senior citizens of our society. We all have the responsibility towards the lives of elder people to make their life better and happy by analyzing all the problems affecting their life. We all need to understand that if seniors are not mentally healthy, they get physically affected and an illness can lead to depression.”

Jediiians played an important role in conceptualizing the whole event. The students of JD institute brought joy and happiness among the elders as they felt special, because this event was celebrated for recognizing the importance and value they have in our lives.

World Elder’s Day was established on 14th of December in the year 1990 by the United Nations General Assembly. It is celebrated every year to make certain the welfare of elder persons as well as to enroll their significant involvement in the society to get promoted from their knowledge and ability. The Plan of Action on Ageing was adopted by the World Assembly on ageing to encourage the society development for all ages. The day is celebrated worldwide to examine issues, promote public awareness and focus on which type of behavior can help older men and women throughout their life.

Mr.Rc Dalal, ExecutiveDirector of JD Institute of Fashion Technology says,” Through this initiative we intend to bring today’s youth closer to elders. In today’s world, the ageing body finds relief but not the weary mind, with this initiative we aim to bring a change in the society, a change in the way people look at the senior citizens of our society.”

An Exhibition Showcasing the Buddhist World of Architecture
June 19th 2015: An exhibition on ‘Architecture of the Buddhist World: The Golden Lands,’ first volume in a series of six books by Vikram Lall was held at India International Centre. Lall is the first person worldwide who travelled to more than 20 countries to conduct in-depth research on Buddhist architecture including the Southeast Asian countries, Myanmar, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand and Laos.  The week long exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Kapila Vatsyayan, eminent art scholar, historian and the Chairperson of IIC Asia Project.

Dr. Vatsyayan appreciated Lall’s work saying, “It is very impressive and amazing work done by Vikram Lall that takes a person through many centuries and many lands where Buddhism flourished.”

Mr. Lall said at the inauguration, “My focus in this research was the change and development in the architecture of Buddhist monuments. My research gives an analysis of the geographical and historical details associated with these temples.”

The other personalities who visited the exhibition and were spellbound by Lall’s contribution to the subject were Dr. Lokesh Chandra, President, Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Dr. Subhash C. Malik, Retd. UGC Professor, Prof. Nalini Thakur, School of Planning and Architecture, and Shri. Shyam Saran (Ex-foreign secretary), Chairman, Research & Information System for Developing countries. More than 800 people visited the exhibition over the week and were mesmerized by the architectural drawings and photographs.

The exhibition consisted of 3 dimensional architectural models, drawings and photographs from his book, The Golden Lands, first book in the world that presents Buddhist architectural history in virtual reality. It was a week-long exhibition that ran from 12th till 19th June, portraying various Buddhist monuments- monasteries, stupas and pagodas from Southeast Asian countries. It also included original photographs of the various destinations that have been captured by world’s top 10 photographers. The exhibition traced the evolution of architectural form and spaces in response to changing ideas, material realities, and building traditions of Southeast Asia.

Morgan Campbell, student at Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, New Brunswick, said, “The photographs beautifully portray Buddhist architecture and the drawings vividly depict the history of architecture in Southeast Asian countries. The work is very informative and I am glad to have visited this exhibition.”

Lall’s book, which is first in the series ‘Architecture of the Buddhist World’ represents a new multidisciplinary approach showing how Buddhist thoughts and rituals have interacted with local traditions across the Asian continent to produce masterpieces of religious architecture. It reveals the history, styles, and interpretation of Buddhist temples, monasteries, and ancient monuments in Southeast Asian countries. The book was launched by His Holiness The Dalai Lama earlier this year.

· Ekta Jain, Aarushi Gulati and Neeti Aggarwal come together to showcase their works that can collectively be labeled as among the best upcoming talent that is emerging in contemporary Indian art

New Delhi, Dec 5, 2014: If art is an expression of the heart and mind, it is also an emitter of inspiration and vibrations. An exhibition of the works of three young and upcoming Indian artists was today put on display in the national capital, promising a visual treat for the lovers of contemporary art.

The four day painting exhibition at the Convention Foyer at India Habitat Centre, is displaying the latest works of Ms. Ekta Jain, Ms Aarushi Gulati and Ms Neeti Aggarwal, under the title of ‘Mélange: A group show of Contemporary Artworks’.

True to its name the exhibition presents a mélange of deep thoughts, an aura of positive vibes and interplay of figurative and abstract mysticism that is certain to stir art lovers of the capital.

The three artists have remarkably unique styles but a freshness that is characteristic of new talent that is still discovering itself. The works speak of hope, peace, tradition, spirituality and courage from the point of view of an artist.

The world eludes positivity and vibrancy as seen from the eyes of these artists who have capture on canvass a world that is in transition but still steeped in traditions. There is never a dull moment in the canvasses that are on display.

The artists have presented a wide array of painting styles and vibrancy of colours and concepts under a single roof and all in affordable prices.

“Different artists release their inner thoughts through different kinds of expressions. For some, sorrow and pain is an underlying theme, for others mysticism is the most powerful expression. If you look at the exhibition that we have put on display, the common thread is an inspirational invocation of peace, hope and positivity. For me personally, art is a medium to spread hope, inspiration and optimism,” says Ekta Jain.

“When people come to see the artworks of veteran artists, they come with pre conceived notions of the artist’s style and expression. In this respect, our exhibition holds an element of surprise,” adds Jain. The exhibition will be on display from December 5 to December 8, everyday from 11.00 am to 8.00 pm.
