Most Neglected, But Most Important Part of Elections “Issuing Voter ID”

Well election time has come again and this time, it is good to see that, both the print media and the electronic media has taken the initiative to bring before people the real worth of every candidate and party. We turn on channels and we see debates, public interactions as to what the previous government has done and what the future governments are promising.

But among all these things, we are missing one very important aspect as to how many of citizens have Voter Id’s and are listed to cast their vote. Before taking the initiative to educate the citizens as to the importance of their vote, and they should not sell it for a note or cast or regional feeling. How many know that how many percentage of the voters do really have voter ids.

It is fact that census is taken and names are listed but how many people are issued voter ID cards in time. If we dig into the facts there will be more number of people who do not have voter id’s though they registered on time. If a citizen sells his vote for a note we say it is wrong, or if a person votes on the basis of caste or regional feeling it is wrong. Then how right it is not to give a right person his right to vote.

No one bothers as to how many number of people do not have voter ids and how many were not issued. Officials have varied reasons as to why the cards were not issued on time but is this right? And who is to be questioned and who is to question? Issuing Voter id’s should not be done as a routine just before elections when everyone works in a hurry and hardly have any time to issue all the cards.

This should be done in a regular fashion, keeping the census as to how many percentage of people have voter ids and how many do not have, and how many more voters are added every year. If we keep this updating then we are sure that all the citizens will have their voter id’s issued by the time of elections.

They say that a right person’s silence does more harm to the society than any wrong person does. Likewise if a right and educated citizen cannot exercise his right to vote just because the officials did not issue the card on time, it does equal harm to the entire political system and the society at large.

So, it becomes the primary responsibility of the government and the system, to know where the root of the problem is, and to make necessary changes, so that citizens are issued voter ids on time, so that they can exercise their right and fulfill their duty as a responsible citizen and bring in a responsible and good government.

Indian Politics adopts news Technology

Election buzz is everywhere, be it in media or party office, all are busy in getting into their role to projects and portray the real picture of Indian politics.

News channels are being conducting exit polls; recently NDTV has broadcasted an exit poll, which believed to be based on new technology. The survey is said to be covered around 12 lakh respondents in 350 lok sabha constituencies.

The best thing is that, Indian politics is now adopting the new technology including the digital media – social media.

Of course, the tea politics has got a big platform in India, and a party has discussed with people on various places, but also the discussion was loud on social media sites.

Now the political parties have been gathering and disseminating information through various methods depending on new technology.

The popular usage of smart-phones, tabs, computers and laptops have changed the election propaganda in India like the western world.

Cyber media has been at peak and the users have been started attracting their voters towards their agenda.

There is no place for the traditional issues like –water, electricity, and home in the digital media campaign by the parties. Of course, the derivation of theses issue is seen though.

Who will be the Next PM?

In a series of interrelated opinion and exit polls over the next two months NDTV will be conducting among the biggest and most rigorous polling exercises ever - covering over 350 (out of the 543) Lok Sabha constituencies with a total sample size of over 2 lakh. The sample selection methodology is based on electoral rolls to ensure a random sample with other technology innovations and new methods of interviewing voters (for example, wherever feasible, women field-workers interviewed female voters).

Witness the biggest election coverage in the history of Indian television as NDTV presents the most credible, non-partisan, non-sensational election analysis.

The channel will also undertake a separate re-contact exercise through phone calls just before the elections to gauge shift of voters’ opinion over time. These opinion polls will be conducted in three phases which will seek to understand the mood of the nation and electoral preferences for parties; get a pulse of the nation and analyse shifts in voter perception and preference followed by an Exit Poll for seat prediction state-by-state.

Aam Aadmi Party could be king maker in 2014 election

Everywhere the name of the party – Aam Admi Paty (AAP) echoes, and many people have been joining the party, that toppled national parties – BJP and Congress in New Delhi.

It is clear that AAP could field its candidates from 400 Lok Sabha constituencies for the general elections in 2014. And the chances are said to be bright for the party, as if it could manage to get around 100 seats, then it might be in a role to be king maker after the general elections are over.

The possibility of Third Front Federation is on cards as the non BJP and non Congress parties have shown their interest to have alliance post poll to form the government at the centre. Among those parties, the AAP could be at the front seat managing and moving ahead the alliance of such parties to form the government.

The recently, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress party had their party meeting – Narendra Modi, is the prime ministerial candidate, while Rahul Gandhi to lead the party for the election. And Arvind Kejriwal from AAP party is in the race.

Among the issues – Corruption is the major one that all parties try to reach the voters having their view and agenda over this issue. AAP is the ruling party in Delhi with support from the Congress, shown their intentions to tackle the issue seriously. And this could be their major advantage that voters may count on the party.

If everything goes in favour of AAP alike state assembly election results in Delhi, it is sure that AAP could play a king maker role in the coming general elections.

Third Front, now a reality?

The charismatic rise of Aam Admi Party (AAP) (www.aamaadmiparty.org) in the assembly election and ascending to the throne in Delhi with support from the Congress party, shows that there is possibility of having a Third Front – non Congress – non BJP at the centre in 2014.

The AAP has become the crucial party the last assembly election and might play king maker role in the upcoming election for the lower house i.e. Lok Sabha in2014 mega battle.

Until the rise of the AAP, it was believed that the BJP might get the opportunity to gain maximum seats in the Lok Sabha election in 2014, as exit polls predicted. But with the entry of AAP in the general election might change the scenario as well.

If the AAP would get maximum seats in few states where it is having strong hold, might change the political scenario and giving a ray of hope for the supporters of Third Front.

It is official that Rahul Gandhi versus Narenda Modi for the top post – Prime Minister of India, but the another face is as well in the race i.e, none other than Arvind Kejriwal, the cheif minister of Delhi and chief of AAP.

After the elections 2014, if Third Front come into existence , there would be bright chance of Kejriwal to be the prime ministerial candidate, if his party would excel in the election as it did in assembly elections.

Keeping the changing political scenario, there would be chances of AAP to change Indian politics and may make the Third Front into a reality.

Do Exit Polls influence Voters?

Do you believe in exit polls? If your answer is yes, here is another question: Do you think the results shown in the exit poll enough to influence voters? Recently, one exit poll shown results that BJP was getting more seats in the 2014 elections, while Congress less.

Political parties do mega campaign to get the attention of voters and their vote in election. The results of exit poll could affect their vote bank. News channels are being widely watched in India, and people do watch election news with great interest.

The exit polls are based on the opinion given by the voters, those are the actual respondents in the survey containing list of questionnaires. And the exit polls are scientific, since it involves the voice of the voters from various reasons.

Similarly, in past elections some exit polls were proved correct, while some fail. Since the voice or willingness of the voters are being taken in the exit poll, during the time of the exit polls that is real. And during the election time, the respondents may change their opinion while voting. And the variation is sure and natural.

And before the election if they come to know about the poor presence, then they could take a cue from the exit poll and start preparing the ground from their areas to win the elections.

Was Mid-day meals successful?

Food! Food! Food! What does it really mean? We can only understand the real meaning of food when we don’t get it. With empty stomachs nobody would be able to work. The schools that were opened for the poor children were always with a zero attendance. So government planned to keep the mid-day meals for poor children.

The main purpose of these meals is to provide them with hygienic food for stamina, physical strength and concentration to read. The government is not providing these meals to the poor children but to the future of the nation. Media across the country raised the many issues over the proper management of the mid-day meal at government schools. But hardly to there is any improvement since the programme launched.

But of the apathetic look the purpose of the mid-day meal progamme is till out of the realm of its actual target and poor students. There were many reports about the quality of the food is being served to students. And in some parts of the country the scheme is very successful.

Now, the question arises whether the pipeline that is formed between the government and the midday meals is already having a leak or is being leaked. The teachers and people associated with this scheme should come forward to achieve the aim of feeding poor children school those are leaving school to earn bread and butter for their family members by engaging themselves in labour work.

So many NGO’s are coming forward to provide better and healthy meals for these children. They are collecting funds by arranging big concerts performed by the celebrities and using it for a noble cause. Were ever they are being successful in there missions they have got a better result in the attendance of schools. Not only in the attendance but also academically well off.

There is a proverb “empty mind is devils workshop” similarly “empty stomach is devils workshop” and it really means. No one in this world can stay without food. So everyone should understand this proverb and help the children to come to schools for education so that one day India would also be counted in the list of higher percentile of literacy.

Who will be the next President of India?

The question is all over that who will be next president of India republic. Congress party will have set of names to consider, the consent of member of parliaments is vital to decide.

However, the parties and their stand will finally stamp on name for the post of President of India, the highest position in Indian republic. According to some media reports, the former President of India, Dr. A P J Kalam could be the next present, provided getting consent from all the parties in Parliament.

The current macro economic problems, political position, recent election results will also play the vital role in determining the best candidate for the high position election. Majority is the key, no doubt in that, however, it also depends on the ruling party and its stand, as it has maximum number of MPs.

The Left and other regional parties might stand unite to support on particular candidate, which could also be a big factor to decide the next President of India.
